Our Mission Statement
Because we are a family of people who have experienced the life-changing love of Christ, it is our purpose to:
Bring people to the same life-changing relationship with Christ;
Love and nurture each other to Christ-like maturity;
Equip each other for service in our church family, community and the world; and
Gather together to worship God.
What We Believe
We believe in the Holy Scriptures as the Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct. The Word of God is “spirit and life” and therefore requires of us a spiritual and living response. This response involves a commitment to the person of Jesus Christ and a dedication to follow Him as Lord. Our church recognizes but transcends theological differences through sharing a common life in Christ. We hold to and observe the sacraments of Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ for the whole person and the whole world. Such a concern finds expression in evangelism, in Christian education and in the missionary task, which includes the community in which our church is located. We welcome into membership all who confess Jesus as Savior and Lord.
History
First Covenant Church of Eureka belongs to a larger body of churches called The Evangelical Covenant Church. This denomination grew out of a revival movement within the state Lutheran Church of Sweden in the mid 1880's. We remain faithful to the vision that brought about that revival—by God's grace through faith each person is able to have a relationship with Jesus Christ and God's Word is the sole authority for faith, doctrine, and conduct.
